New Version of Palworld on Xbox: Exploring the Differences

Nowa wersja gry Palworld na Xboxie różni się od wersji na Steam

Palworld, the game developed by Pocketpair, has become a massive hit on Steam. However, the Xbox version seems to lag behind in terms of features and updates. In response to player questions and concerns, Pocketpair has decided to address this situation.

According to community manager Buckie, there is a common misunderstanding regarding the differences between the Steam and Xbox versions. The game versions on these platforms are not identical, which means that some features may vary. It is not true that the Xbox version is older. Of course, the developer’s goal is to bring both versions to an identical state, but this is only possible after introducing crossplay support.

A shared feature present in both versions is the ability to play multiplayer. On Steam, players can create and join dedicated servers that allow gameplay for up to 32 players. Unfortunately, on Xbox and Windows PC (via Game Pass), players do not have access to dedicated servers, limiting online cooperation to 2-4 players. Crossplay between Xbox and Steam is currently not available.

Furthermore, the developer explained that the differences between the versions arise from the variations in the architecture of both platforms. Version 1.2 on Xbox may differ from version 1.2 on Steam. Pocketpair is trying to expedite the update process on Xbox, but due to the necessity of undergoing the certification process by Microsoft, it is not as straightforward as on Steam.

However, it was not explained why the Xbox and Windows PC version lack dedicated servers when other games have this functionality. Pocketpair claims it is not up to them, but they are doing everything in their power to change that.

Palworld is a game that has gained enormous popularity but is not without controversy. The developer has received death threats in connection with accusations of Pokémon imitation. Already, there is a trend of Pokémon-inspired Palworld. The game’s servers have also experienced issues during peak player numbers.

It is worth noting that an early access review of Palworld can be found on the IGN website. However, it should be remembered that the Xbox version differs from the Steam version, although the developer aims to bring both versions to a similar state in the future.
