Increased video memory from 12GB to 16GB

The RTX 4070 Ti Super addresses the need for more video memory by increasing it from 12GB to 16GB of GDDR6X memory. Additionally, there’s a significant boost in the number of CUDA cores (which generate most of the raster graphics), from 7680 to 8448, resulting in a 10% increase. Moreover, the hardware supporting ray tracing and artificial intelligence computations (especially DLSS) has also seen improvements, with a 10% increase in cores from 60 to 66 and from 240 to 264 respectively.

Test Setup

Over the past week, we tested the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16G Ventus 3X. We conducted a series of realistic and synthetic tests, including rendering and gaming at various resolutions. To ensure accuracy, we used a stable and reliable test platform that didn’t introduce any limitations from other components.

Test Configuration:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K
  • RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Dominator Titanium @ 7200
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero
  • CPU Cooling: Corsair iCUE Link H150i LCD 360mm AIO
  • Case Cooling: 7x Corsair iCUE Link QX120 120mm fans
  • Power Supply: 1200W Corsair RMx Shift 80+ Gold PSU
  • SSD: 2TB Gigabyte Aorus Gen5 12000 M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD
  • Case: Hyte Y70 Touch

A full specification of the test setup can be seen above. For the tests, we used seven games at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions. We measured average and minimum frame rates and conducted synthetic tests using 3DMark and Blender. Additionally, we monitored power consumption and temperatures using HWMonitor.

Performance and Test Results

Strong 4K Performance, consistently exceeding 60 fps

Performance not significantly higher than the RTX 4070 Super

16GB of video memory may prove more beneficial in the future

Overall, the gaming performance is impressive. In our average results across eight games at 1440p resolution, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super achieved an impressive average of 114.57 frames per second across all titles (with an average of 48 fps in Cyberpunk). At 4K resolution, the average performance was…
