Exploring the Future of Boxing Training with Virtual Reality

NOWOŚCI ZE ŚWIATA BOKSU – TRENING WIRTUALNYM REALITY

Virtual Reality (VR) technology is making notable strides in the field of educational technology, ushering in a new era of learning. And now, it has found its way into the world of sports, specifically boxing. This new application of VR technology allows boxers to train with simulated opponents and enhance their skills.

In Melissa Drywater’s training gym, her son introduced a virtual reality headset and started using it for his training sessions. Soon, three other boxers in the same gym followed suit and began using similar setups for their training. This new technology is completely revolutionizing the way boxers can train.

Boxers can now refine their skills and challenge increasingly demanding opponents as they progress in the game. Instead of relying solely on traditional training methods, they can now advance to higher levels and compete against more focused and powerful boxers. “You can level up and progress to fight more concentrated and powerful boxers and try to surpass them. You have the opportunity to fight someone better than yourself,” explained Drywater.

Recently, Drywater and her young boxers participated in the VR Golden Gloves event. In this officially recognized competition, Drywater’s boxers had the chance to face high-level opponents. The Drywater boxers secured the top three spots in the tournament, with Michael Drywater defeating Victor Durana for second place.

“It’s a truly incredible event, the first of its kind,” said Drywater. “I think it’s groundbreaking because it replicates and simulates a real boxing match. They see their opponents right in front of them and they really fight. The game records and monitors boxing techniques, so in order to score points, you have to try to execute combinations and do everything correctly.”

Drywater herself tested this technology and considers it a reliable training method. “The kids brought it, and I tried it myself. It’s a good way to train. It gets you moving. It’s a lot of fun and can be a great workout,” Drywater shared.

The combination of educational technology and virtual reality has become a powerful tool for training and developing athletic skills. Training with VR allows boxers to confront challenges and improve their abilities in a more engaging and active manner. This progress opens up new horizons for both the world of sports and education, ensuring a more effective and enjoyable experience.
