Jack Black Confirms Minecraft Movie Will Be Completely Different from Super Mario Bros.

Actor Jack Black, who recently captivated audiences with his performance in the song “Peaches” in the Super Mario Bros. movie, is now preparing for a completely different adventure in a film based on the game Minecraft, featuring live-action actors.

In an interview with Total Film magazine, Black explains that Minecraft, in which he will star alongside Jason Momoa, Matthew Berry, and Danielle Brooks, offers a “different experience” compared to his role in Super Mario Bros. “Both productions are related to video games, but in terms of approach, the acting challenge is completely different,” says Black. “I’m very excited to work with Jared Hess, the director of this film, again. We had the opportunity to collaborate on Nacho Libre for years. It has always been a pleasure,” the actor added.

However, Black will likely observe the audience’s reaction before evaluating the success of the film, just as he did after the premiere of Super Mario Bros. “They showed it to me a month before the official release. I was convinced that we had a hit, and I laughed and smiled throughout the whole movie,” Black recalls. “And then the terrible reviews came. I thought to myself, ‘What movie did they watch?’ Fortunately, the world didn’t take cues from Rotten Tomatoes, and the film became one of the biggest hits of all time.”
