Hard Hat Lounge in Las Vegas Receives Gaming License

Historic Hard Hat Lounge in Las Vegas has been granted a gaming license by the Nevada Gaming Commission after a unanimous approval during an extraordinary session last week. The licensing was officially approved during an unconventional session held by the Nevada Gaming Commission, giving Hard Hat Lounge the green light to operate as a gaming establishment. Frankie Sidoris, long-time guitarist for the concert group led by Slash, participated in the session online while traveling in Bogota, Colombia.

During the proceedings, Commission Chair Jennifer Togliatti acknowledged Sidoris’ participation as a passenger in a moving vehicle and allowed him to transfer his involvement in the hearing. Sidoris confirmed his presence as a passenger with a lighthearted remark.

Sidoris had previously appeared in person before the Nevada Gaming Control Board in January and had received a positive recommendation. However, during the Commission meeting, he was still on tour in South America with Slash, the renowned guitarist known for his performances with Guns N’ Roses. Sidoris mentioned that they would continue touring together in Australia, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

Sidoris acquired the Hard Hat Lounge, located at Industrial Road 1675, in August 2022 and reopened it in early December 2023 alongside Slash and a lineup of stars. He suggested that unexpected guests would regularly appear at the Hard Hat Lounge, which will become a signature feature of the establishment that originated in 1962.

The Commission approved a gaming license that permits the operation of 15 gaming machines. Sidoris revealed that he has already applied to hire a licensed manager who will oversee the venue while he is on concert tours.

“I’m usually away from home for about a month, then I have about a month break. But right now, I’m on tour until February 14th,” Sidoris said.

The Commission praised the approval of the license and expressed satisfaction that Sidoris intends to preserve the Hard Hat Lounge’s historical character.

“I love that you’re hosting unexpected free concerts for all the music lovers out there,” Commissioner Ogonna Brown said. “It seems like a fantastic, wonderful new addition to Las Vegas. I know it’s not new, but you’re injecting new energy into it. Good luck, I’m excited to see what you’ll do here in Las Vegas.”
