PDP Unveils the Riffmaster: A Revolutionary Music Game Controller
PDP has officially announced the launch of their new music game controller, the Riffmaster, set to debut this spring. The controller will be available in two versions, one compatible with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, and the other designed for use with PS4 and PS5 consoles. At first glance, it bears a resemblance to the plastic guitar controllers of the popular Guitar Hero and Rock Band series, but a closer look reveals several significant changes to its formula.
One of the most notable changes is the addition of an analog joystick located at the back of the guitar, allowing for precise control. The Riffmaster also features an ergonomic, dual-sided design and a 3.5mm audio jack. Its promised battery life of 36 hours on a single charge ensures gamers can enjoy uninterrupted play for extended periods of time.
One interesting feature to note is the unique folding mechanism of the Riffmaster controller. Instead of having to dismantle the body and long neck of the guitar, this controller has a foldable design that makes it easier to transport and store. The only detachable part is the string cover. Included with the controller will be various patterns and motifs, giving players the opportunity to personalize and add their own style to their Riffmaster. This is a nice addition, considering that some Guitar Hero and Rock Band players enjoy customizing their controllers with stickers.
The Riffmaster controller will be compatible with two games: Rock Band 4, which has released its final DLC, and Fortnite Festival, provided Harmonix releases an update enabling Rock Band guitar controller support. The arrival of this update will greatly enhance the gaming experience in Fortnite Festival, which currently only supports gamepads and keyboards, posing some challenges during gameplay.
