New Season of “The Witcher” Welcomes Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia

Henry Cavill Zrezygnował z Roli w Wiedźminie Ze Względu na Różnice Twórcze

In a surprising turn of events, Henry Cavill, best known for his portrayal of Superman, has stepped down from his role as Geralt of Rivia in the popular series “The Witcher” after three seasons due to creative differences with the production team. Taking his place will be Liam Hemsworth, who will now embody this iconic character. It remains to be seen how Hemsworth will handle the distinctive wig, reminiscent of Khaleesi’s hairstyle from “Game of Thrones”.

When Netflix announced the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books and CD Projekt Red’s video games into a series called “The Witcher”, Henry Cavill immediately auditioned for the lead role. Despite having to wear a long wig resembling Khaleesi’s character from “Game of Thrones”, Cavill actively pursued the role and was chosen among more than 200 actors.

In an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, Cavill admitted that he drew inspiration from Khaleesi’s character in shaping his version of Geralt of Rivia. In jest, he mentioned that on set, he would have the crew refer to him as “Khaleesi” or “Emilia” and pretend to be the Mother of Dragons. After the extensive work on the series, Cavill removed the golden locks using two types of medical tape and adhesive during the production of the second season.

Cavill, who is a fan of Sapkowski’s original book series and CD Projekt Red’s video games, seamlessly embodied the character of Geralt. His acting skills were so impressive that showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich decided to reduce the character’s dialogue as Cavill could express a lot through his expressions and sound effects.

All three seasons of “The Witcher” are currently available for streaming on Netflix. Additionally, the platform also premiered the animated film “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf” and the prequel miniseries “The Witcher: Blood Origin”.
