A New Perspective on Palworld: Exploring the Xbox Version

Prawdziwa natura akcji w świecie Palworld na Xbox i Microsoft Store

Palworld on Xbox and Microsoft Store has been making waves in the gaming world. And for good reason – shooting cartoon animals with firearms and then forcing them to mine ores all day long is incredibly entertaining. However, those playing the Xbox version, widely available through Game Pass, will experience a slightly different game – something I personally discovered after spending over 50 hours playing on console, following my escapades in the better-polished Steam version. Unfortunately, the Xbox version comes with a few additional bugs and performance issues, lacking certain features here and there, and limiting multiplayer mode to only four players without the ability to create dedicated servers. These shortcomings are to be expected from a game still in early access and undergoing development, but it certainly feels like a less complete package.

The most noticeable difference in this version of Palworld is that it simply performs worse. While graphical glitches, texture pop-in, and frame rate drops are present on Steam as well, they are significantly more bothersome on Xbox. Extended journeys in the game world always end with highly blurred textures that sometimes never fully load even when you get close to them. In several instances, strange lightning-like flashes started flickering and wouldn’t disappear until I returned to the main menu. However, the worst discrepancies lie in the Xbox’s audio effects, which are highly inconsistent in terms of quality. Some sounds are of extremely low quality and sound as if you’re listening to them through an old intercom, while other sound effects are simply missing. None of these issues were serious enough to significantly detract from my enjoyment of Palworld, but they certainly diminished the overall satisfaction of this marathonic adventure.

On the Xbox version, I also encountered a few particularly frustrating bugs that I didn’t experience on Steam. The most impactful one occurs when flying on the back of a Pal, especially in high-level areas like snowy mountains or volcanic volcanoes where a lot is happening. Certain parts of the world don’t load correctly and become fragile. This means that you fly through them and end up underground. There were numerous occasions where I found myself stuck below ground, flying around in search of a spot where I could resurface and get back to the appropriate part of the map. It happened so frequently that I began to wonder if certain areas had blurred textures because it seemed like I should be able to pass through them. This kind of unfinished aspect can be truly frustrating, and it’s something I didn’t experience at all on Steam, where the map and its textures loaded much faster. The Xbox version also lacks a few minor features available on Steam, such as the ability to give characters or friends names. It can be somewhat confusing when your characters are named “Player 916” instead of their Gamertags, and communicating with friends becomes a small puzzle. However, these shortcomings didn’t ruin my fun (after all, I didn’t want to give any of those poor animals insulting names, considering I likely intended to use their organs), but they definitely give the game a slightly less refined sense of quality.

All these issues raise some concerns, but collectively they only slightly impact my enjoyment of the game. We can still chase dozens of interesting Pals, cause mischief in the open world, and delve into surprising survival mechanics. That’s how it is now, even with a slight drop in frame rate and occasional game crashes, which slightly dampens my recommendation enthusiasm. If you’re not someone who can tolerate a few shortcomings and a bit of grit in their survival games, it might be worth waiting a bit before diving into the world of Palworld.
