Analysis of Shadow Ho-Oh as a Fire and Flying Type Attacker

Wydajność Cienia Ho-Oh jako atakującego typu ognistego i latającego

Shadow Ho-Oh is making its debut in raid events this weekend, bringing an interesting surprise for trainers. In this article, we will examine its performance as a Fire and Flying Type attacker.

Although many of you were eagerly awaiting the analysis of Shadow Kyogre, it requires more time as I am preparing a comprehensive analysis that also includes Shadow Groudon and Rayquaza. However, I am confident that I will satisfy your curiosity soon. In the meantime, let’s focus on Shadow Ho-Oh, which is incredibly significant in the upcoming raid.

According to an analysis from January 2023, Shadow Ho-Oh does not achieve comparable results to other legendary shadows or non-legendary shadows with special moves. As a Fire Type attacker, Shadow Ho-Oh ranks in a similar segment to Shadow Charizard with Shadow Claw, and Heatran with Magma Storm (depending on IV values). Unfortunately, it is weaker than Shadow Reshiram, and shadows like Chandelure, Moltres, Entei, and Blaziken.

In terms of Flying Type attacks, Shadow Ho-Oh does not have a fast Flying Type attack. Despite this, it ranks slightly higher than regular Shadow Moltres or Shadow Honchkrow (depending on IV values). Unfortunately, it still falls behind other shadows such as upgraded Shadow Staraptor, Yveltal with Oblivion Wing, Shadow Moltres with Shadow Wing Attack, and Shadow Rayquaza with Dragon Ascent.

It is also worth mentioning that Shadow Ho-Oh can have an incredibly rare Flying Hidden Power move, which significantly improves the effectiveness of its Flying Type attacks. Unfortunately, the chance of encountering a Ho-Oh with this move is very low, only 1/16. Luckily, it can be planned using an Elite Fast TM.

Additionally, there is a possibility that Shadow Ho-Oh might receive the move Gusto in the future. These speculations arose in the context of potential move updates in GBL. If such a change were to occur, Shadow Ho-Oh would match the performance of Shadow Moltres.

Finally, I would like to mention Apex Shadow Ho-Oh, which is a completely different form from the Ho-Oh encountered in raids. It is not easily accessible, and its exclusive move Sacred Fire+ makes it a significantly better attacker than Shadow Ho-Oh. In terms of Fire Type attacks, Apex Shadow Ho-Oh matches the performance of Shadow Moltres and Shadow Entei.
