Armored Core 6: FromSoftware Considered Making It Open-World Like Elden Ring
The director of Armored Core 6, Masaru Yamamura, revealed in an interview that there was a discussion about making the game an open-world experience like Elden Ring. However, the team ultimately decided against it and opted for the series’ familiar mission structure.
Yamamura explained that the charm of the Armored Core series lies in the customization of mechas, which affects the movement and gameplay. Therefore, an open-world setting with exploration was deemed unsuitable for the game.
While Armored Core 6 may not share direct similarities with FromSoftware’s previous titles like Sekiro, Yamamura mentioned that it does focus on aggressive battle styles and speed, much like Sekiro. The game encourages players to utilize jumps and boosters to control movement and reach different altitudes and speeds.
While there will still be a dynamically moving and three-dimensional map, Yamamura emphasized that the focus of Armored Core 6 will be on individual missions using assembled mechas. Players can expect a meticulously crafted map with opportunities to explore various nooks and crannies.
Although FromSoftware has gained experience and know-how from their work on Souls-like games, including the highly anticipated Elden Ring, Yamamura stated that players should not expect a drastically different experience from previous Armored Core games.
While waiting for the release of Armored Core 6, PC gamers can look forward to other upcoming titles or explore the best free games currently available.
