Blizzard has always been known for its dedication to its oldest games, releasing updates even decades after their initial release. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Blizzard has just announced the addition of two classic games to their store and launcher, Battle.net: Warcraft: Orcs And Humans from 1994 and Diablo from 1997.

In a detailed blog post about the release of Warcraft, Blizzard revealed that in addition to the single-player campaign, the game offers 21 bonus maps for players to engage in battles against the computer, as well as a versus mode for two players.

Similarly, a post about Diablo explains the fundamentals of this genre-defining action RPG game, including the opportunity for multiplayer gameplay for up to four players. Both of these announcements also include quick guides that provide basic gameplay instructions, similar to what would have been found in the original paper manuals.

Diablo is priced at £8 in the store, while Warcraft is available for just £5. Personally, I believe that the first game has stood the test of time better than the second, making those additional £3 well worth it.

While both of these games have been available on the GOG platform for some time now, Diablo made its digital debut in 2019.

Perhaps those were happier times, as Blizzard recently experienced a round of layoffs as part of significant cuts made by their new owner, Microsoft. As a result, the development of Blizzard’s highly anticipated survival game, which had been in the works for years, was canceled.
