Equinix Expands Partnership with Nvidia and Introduces Managed Private Cloud Service

Equinix rozwija partnerstwo z Nvidia i wprowadza nową usługę zarządzanego prywatnego chmury

Equinix, a leading data center operator, has announced the expansion of its longstanding partnership with Nvidia, introducing a new managed private cloud service. This service aims to help businesses leverage the growing and evolving models of artificial intelligence (AI) by migrating them to the Nvidia DGX SuperPOD data center infrastructure.

The new service, now available, incorporates Nvidia’s DGX systems, networking, and AI Enterprise software, while Equinix installs and manages the hardware and software for each client as a private infrastructure. The services can be extended to multiple international locations where Equinix data center infrastructure operates.

This announcement comes over two and a half years after Equinix partnered with Nvidia for the AI Launchpad program, which combined Nvidia’s AI hardware and software to facilitate their use by cloud providers. Fast forward to 2024, amidst a dynamic AI market where new models are constantly growing and evolving with the addition of new data and parameters. AI-driven initiatives in enterprises are beginning to require supercomputing infrastructure, but corporate clients still have concerns about costs, complexity, security, and data sovereignty.

“Our goal is to provide our customers with efficient, scalable, and easy deployment of AI technology in a way that would otherwise take them months or quarters to train their own staff on how to handle Nvidia DGX SuperPOD relationships and manage complex network requirements,” said Jon Lin, Vice President of Data Centers at Equinix, who is responsible for Equinix’s data center services.

Addressing concerns about data privacy and security, Charlie Boyle, Vice President of DGX Systems at Nvidia, said, “It is of utmost importance to move your AI solutions where the data resides, and for many companies, business data is stored in Equinix data centers.”

“Furthermore, our customers need comprehensive AI capabilities, but many of them don’t have the data center infrastructure or the knowledge to build, manage, and operate such systems, which is why the [Equinix and Nvidia] partnership makes a lot of sense, especially for our joint customers,” he added.

Early adopters of Equinix’s new service include large enterprises in the biopharmaceutical, financial services, software, automotive, and retail industries.

In addition to the DGX infrastructure, the new service provides fast, private access to global network service providers, enabling quick access to AI-generated insights across wide-reaching corporate networks. It also enables high-bandwidth private connections to cloud computing services and enterprise service providers to facilitate AI-related work, while meeting data security and compliance requirements. Equinix’s IBX data center staff also provide industry-leading support and security as part of the service. The company has not disclosed detailed pricing information.
