Futuristic Gaming Performance with AMD’s New Ryzen 8000G Processors

Nowe procesory Ryzen 8000G od AMD oferują imponującą wydajność w grach

AMD has recently introduced its latest Ryzen 8000G APU processors, which combine a powerful central processing unit (CPU) with a highly integrated graphics processing unit (GPU). Initial performance tests have shown that the flagship model, Ryzen 8700G, delivers impressive gaming performance without the need for an additional graphics card. Gamers can expect an average of 50 to 120 frames per second at 1080p with medium settings in many modern games.

During the launch of the 8000G series, AMD claimed that the Ryzen 8700G model could achieve over 60 frames per second in Cyberpunk 2077. Now, after independent reviews and tests, it is clear that these new processors truly deliver the gaming performance that AMD promised. With our own tests yet to be conducted, it is highly likely that the Ryzen 8700G will find its place on our list of the best gaming processors, eliminating the need to invest in a high-end graphics card.

The Ryzen 8700G is the top model in the new series, which also includes the 8600G, 8500G, and 8300G models. The Ryzen 8700G features an 8-core/16-thread processor, similar to the Ryzen 7 7700 or Ryzen 7 7800X3D. However, while these two models have basic integrated graphics that are only suitable for basic video editing and simple games, the Ryzen 8700G boasts a much more powerful integrated GPU (iGPU).

The Ryzen 8700G’s iGPU consists of 12 RDNA 3 compute units, whereas the Ryzen 7700’s iGPU has only 2 RDNA 2 compute units. The 8600G model has 8 compute units, while the 8500G and 8300G models feature modest 4 compute units.

Compared to the AMD Radeon RX 7600 graphics card, which retails at $269, the Ryzen 8700G is noticeably less powerful but still offers decent performance without the need for a significant investment. The graphics card requires additional power supply, larger casing, and better cooling system. On the other hand, the Ryzen 8700G can be kept at low temperatures and in silence using the standard fan provided by AMD, eliminating the need to search for the best CPU cooler.

Looking at the performance test results in games, let’s focus on examples from reviews conducted by Hardware Unboxed. Based on their tests, the Ryzen 8700G achieves an average of 49 frames per second and a minimum of 38 frames per second in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) at 1080p and low graphics settings.

Of course, using low graphics settings does involve some compromises, but it still offers a very decent level of performance. Compared to the previous generation AMD Ryzen 7 5700G (the best integrated graphics processor), the difference is substantial—the previous model averaged only 20 frames per second and a minimum of 11 frames per second.

In less graphically demanding games, the situation is even better. In Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), this processor achieves an average of 119 frames per second and a minimum of 70 frames per second at 1080p and medium graphics settings. Both values allow for smooth and enjoyable online gameplay, although it may not be sufficient for highest-level competition.

The same goes for Fortnite, where the Ryzen 8700G reaches an impressive 132 frames per second with a minimum of 114 frames per second, all at 1080p and low graphics settings. In most other performance tests, the frame rate rarely dropped below 40.

We have previously marveled at the capabilities of the best-integrated graphics processors, and now many budget-conscious gamers can confidently purchase a system based on such a processor without any reservations. If you have an affordable computer and a 1080p monitor, this processor will provide you with sufficient performance.

Of course, the price of the Ryzen 8700G is $329, which is relatively high compared to the cheapest processors of the current generation with basic integrated graphics. However, considering that you would need over $200 for a graphics card of similar performance, these new Ryzen 8000G processors become the obvious choice.

In the near future, we will conduct our own tests on the 8700G and 8600G models. For now, you can check out our suggestions for the best gaming processors available in your price range.
