Go Mecha Ball: A Perfect Gaming Experience on Game Pass

Go Mecha Ball – Doskonała rozrywka wśród gier na Game Pass

Go Mecha Ball is one of the many games available on the Game Pass platform that could easily be overlooked among all the great titles, but it shouldn’t be. I’ve been playing this fast-paced twin-stick roguelike from time to time and I can confidently say that if you’re a fan of this genre, especially games like Hades and Enter the Gungeon, you can’t afford to miss this game.

The storyline of Go Mecha Ball is simple: you play as an anthropomorphic alien whose planet has been destroyed by a portal. However, you have built mechs that serve as giant metal hamster balls to deal with the problem. If Guillermo del Toro created a cute version of Pacific Rim, this would be it. You navigate through different levels in the form of a ball, transforming into a mech to use weapons and eliminate enemies. It’s one of the best games available on Game Pass.

In typical roguelike fashion, Go Mecha Ball features unlocking various weapons, abilities, and upgrades. However, what sets Go Mecha Ball apart from other games in this genre is how great it feels to play. The simple action of shooting enemies as a mech and then transforming into a ball to dodge attacks is a real treat for fans of games like Super Monkey Ball.

Go Mecha Ball is like a return to the days when you discovered true gems on Xbox Live Arcade – games that were weird, small, unconventional, and had to be searched for on Steam. The game may not be perfect, but it’s still fantastic.

While it may not have as many weapons or abilities as I would like (I have Enter the Gungeon to thank for the constant parade of weapon parodies), we have four different mech models to choose from, and the variety in gameplay moments alone makes you want to come back for more. The gameplay in Go Mecha Ball may seem less extensive than in other games of this genre, but not every roguelike needs to be filled with hundreds of hours of possibilities. Sometimes it’s worth having a shorter gameplay experience.

Despite its shortcomings, Go Mecha Ball is fantastic because of how perfectly it captures the essence of a roguelike game. Transforming from a ball to a mech creates an incredible sensation, and the movements of the character are absolutely flawless. Bouncing off spring cushions, colliding with enemies to stop their attack, and then briefly becoming them to shoot and throw grenades also contributes to the creation of extraordinary kinetic energy. It’s a completely different experience from most roguelikes.

If you remember the feeling of speed and fluidity in a game like Mirror’s Edge, you’ll definitely experience that same feeling in Go Mecha Ball. Developer Whale Peak Games has perfectly captured why we all love games of this kind. It would be a disservice to yourself to not try this game.

Go Mecha Ball is available on Steam and Game Pass right now.
