Major Players at the Capcom Pro Tour Midwest Qualifiers
As the regular season of the Capcom Pro Tour comes to an end, we can’t forget about the action happening at the first professional circuit for Street Fighter 6. Now that we’ve reached the final eight of the CPT US / Canada Midwest qualifiers, let’s take a closer look at the characters that have appeared in this tournament.
One of the main surprises of the weekend was Hamad, who made it to the final eight with the character E. Honda and showcased incredible skill. However, he wasn’t the only sumo wrestler to achieve success. Jewelman and DiabloHR, players who also use sumo characters, made it to the top thirty.
There were also three Lily characters in the tournament, although ElChakotay had the most success with her and narrowly missed out on making it to the final eight. Unfortunately, dreams of securing a spot in the Capcom Cup seem to have been dashed, as only the last chance qualifiers remain.
However, it seems highly likely that another rival will lead Luke to the finals in the Midwest region.
The protagonist of SF6 was undoubtedly the most popular, making it to the Top 32 a total of six times.
Interestingly, five of them placed in the top twelve, and three still have a chance to secure a spot in the final eight – YC|ZachInABox, DualKevin, and Joe Umerogan.
Overall, we saw 14 different characters in the top thirty-two of the tournament, including nine repeats. Considering that over 580 players registered for this last CPT event, these statistics represent approximately 5% of the participants.
Unfortunately, this means that the characters A.K.I., Rashid, Jamie, Manon, Zangief, and Guile did not appear in the upper sections of the leaderboard.
