Microsoft Flight Simulator Receives Caribbean Region Update

Microsoft Flight Simulator otrzymuje aktualizację rejonu Karaibów

Microsoft Flight Simulator has been continuously updated since its release in 2020 by Asabo and Microsoft Game Studios. We’ve had Simulator Updates and World Updates, and now we have reached the 16th edition of the latter.

World Updates involve significant improvements and modernizations to the landscape of selected regions, selected airports, and an overall refresh of everything.

In this update, there are 104 new noteworthy locations, such as the lighthouse in Nassau Harbor in the Bahamas, Colbeck Castle in Jamaica, Faro De Pampatar lighthouse in Puerto Rico, and the Red House in Trinidad and Tobago.

The team also worked closely with Gaya Simulations to manually enhance airports in this update. The following airports are included:

– Gregorio Luperón International Airport in the Dominican Republic (Puerto Plata Airport) (code MDPP)
– Antoine-Simon Airport in Haiti (MTCA)
– Sangster International Airport in Jamaica (MKJS)
– A.N.R. Robinson International Airport in Trinidad and Tobago (formerly Crown Point International Airport) (TTCP)
– North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas (MYEH)
– Les Saintes Airport in Guadeloupe (TFFS).

World Update 16: Caribbean also includes nine activities that can be completed:

– Three discovery flights: in Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, and San Juan in Puerto Rico
– Three landing challenges: at Gregorio Luperón International Airport in the Dominican Republic (MDPP), a famous landing challenge; North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas (MYEH), an epic landing challenge; and Antoine-Simon Airport in Haiti (MTCA)
– Three bush trips, showcasing the beauty of the region.

The Flight Simulator developer blog post states, “Microsoft Flight Simulator partnered with Bing Maps, Maxar, and a range of Caribbean government organizations to deliver this incredible update for simulators. The team gathered massive amounts of geospatial data for World Update XVI: Caribbean, including aerial imagery, satellite data, LIDAR data, DEM data, and DTM data.”

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be released later this year and will improve upon everything we already have. Even if you don’t plan on updating, it’s great to see that the older sibling is still receiving such care and attention from the developers.
