MSI Unveils the Claw: A New Portable Gaming System
MSI, a leading manufacturer of electronic devices, has recently introduced its latest gaming device to the market – the Claw. While the company did not reveal the pricing of its new machine at the CES trade show, MSI quietly updated its website to provide the prices for all three versions of the Claw. Though slightly more expensive than competitive solutions, the Claw offers the latest Intel Meteor Lake processors. The starting price for MSI’s new portable gaming system, the Claw, is $699.99 USD, just like the Lenovo Legion Go and the premium Asus ROG Ally. The most expensive model, the Steam Deck OLED, is $50 cheaper, but it is a Linux-based system with fewer available software options. The Claw runs on the full version of Windows 11, just like the Ally and Legion Go.
The basic version of the Claw will have 512 GB of PCIe M.2 disk storage and an Intel Core Ultra 5 135H processor. In addition to the Core Ultra 5 model, MSI will offer two versions of the Claw with the Core Ultra 7 155H processor. This upgrade increases the price by $50, while everything else remains the same. For an additional $50, customers can get the best available model of the MSI Claw, equipped with the Core Ultra 7 155H processor and 1 TB of memory.
The remaining technical specifications are the same for all three versions of the Claw. They include a 7-inch screen with a 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a 53-watt-hour battery with a 65W charger, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. The device weighs 1.44 pounds, slightly heavier than some competing products. MSI also promises Hall-effect joysticks that should be more reliable in the long run. The MSI Claw looks like a solid contender in the portable gaming system segment, and it will be interesting to see how Intel’s Meteor Lake fares against competing solutions based on AMD processors. Unfortunately, the release date for the device is still unknown, but all three units on the store’s website have a notification option.
