New Article: League of Legends Drops Support for Windows 7 and 8.1

League of Legends zostanie wyłączony dla systemów Windows 7 i 8.1

League of Legends, one of the most popular PC games developed by Riot Games, will no longer be supported on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 starting from Wednesday, February 21, 2024. This decision encompasses all game versions, including Teamfight Tactics.

The change in the minimum system requirements for League of Legends means that the game will only be supported on Windows 10, Windows 11, and newer operating systems with the upcoming patch 14.4.

While this decision may raise concerns among some players, Riot Games is not alone in taking such steps. Microsoft ended support for these operating systems over four years ago, and Valve announced that Steam will also cease support for Windows 7 and 8.

Riot Games’ full statement, revealed alongside patch 14.2 for League of Legends, reads as follows: “Starting from Wednesday, February 21 (patch 14.4), we are updating the minimum system requirements and ceasing support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 for all League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics games.

“To continue ensuring the stability and performance of League, sometimes we have to stop supporting older operating systems that have a dwindling player base to focus our efforts elsewhere.”

Are you still clinging to your beloved Windows 7 system (let’s admit it, no one really loves Windows 8/8.1)? If so, what would it take for you to consider upgrading? Share your thoughts on our PCGamesN profile on Facebook and X.
