New Insight into NYCFC’s New Black Alternate Kit

Nowe wrażenie odnośnie nowego czarnego alternatywnego stroju NYCFC

A new black attire, known as the NYCFC Away kit, was recently discovered through the EA Sports FC 24 video game, formerly known as FIFA.

Due to an incredible mishap, a game update revealed the new kits for the 2024 season for various Major League Soccer teams, including NYCFC.

Olive & York, a clothing brand, has prepared a helpful series of images showcasing leaked kit sets for all MLS teams, which can be seen below.

However, let’s focus more on the new, elegant black alternate kit for NYCFC.

Our executive editor, Oliver Strand, informed us on January 9th that black will be the dominant color in NYCFC’s new kit for the 2024 season. Now, thanks to EA Sports FC 24, we can accidentally catch a glimpse of NYCFC’s second black shirt in the club’s history.

The hint that black is returning to NYCFC’s kit rotation comes from the official supporters’ group, The Third Rail, whose “2024 Membership Package” idea included black-dominant products such as scarves, pins, and stickers – perfectly matching the leaked kit. Footy Headlines made noise about this, leading to increased speculation about NYCFC’s black kit.

Of course, since it’s just a pixelated image in a video game, we can’t delve into the details. At first glance, it appears that the design is simpler and neater than the beloved alternate black kit from 2015, which featured glossy black vertical stripes, an orange “NYC” monogram on the back, and subtle orange elements on the rest of the kit.

The alternate kit for the 2024 season seems to have more orange accents than before, although not to the level of the vibrant orange Volt Kit or the psychedelic Hypno Kit from 2016. It is a black shirt with alternating light blue and orange accents, as well as a modified club emblem.

The iconic NYCFC shield is replaced in the new black kit by blue letters featuring the “NYC” monogram from the full club logo. The sleeve trims alternate between orange and blue, just like the sponsor’s name on the shirt.

When all of this is combined, it gives the impression of resembling the black reserve shirt from 1998 for the New York Mets, which suits the team from New York, who will play six home matches at Citi Field stadium in 2024.

As mentioned earlier, NYCFC will likely officially unveil the new kit in February. The kits for the 2021 season were presented on February 15th last year, and the Volt Kit was revealed in February 2019. The leak from the EA Sports FC 24 game is the first glimpse, but kits always look different in person and on human models.

We would love to hear your thoughts on the latest team kit. Did adidas and NYCFC improve upon the 2015 Away kit, which many fans consider the best in the club’s history commemorating nine seasons?
