New Prince of Persia Game Still in Development

Ubisoft recently announced during their live stream event that the highly anticipated Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake will not be released until 2026. Originally slated for a 2021 release, fans of the series will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the game. However, despite the extended wait, Ubisoft assures fans that the game is still in development and will capture the magic of the original.

Unlike the previous Prince of Persia games released by Ubisoft, the Sands of Time Remake will return to its 3D platforming action-adventure roots. While the recent 2D platformers, The Lost Crown and The Rogue Prince of Persia, received positive reviews from fans, many are eagerly awaiting the return to the classic 3D gameplay that made the series famous.

The Sands of Time Remake will be a collaborative effort between multiple Ubisoft studios, including Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Pune, and E-Studio. The game has just entered full production after spending a significant amount of time in the pre-production phase.

Despite the long development time, fans can take solace in the fact that Ubisoft has recently treated the Prince of Persia series with care and attention to detail. The Lost Crown received a new content update called “Divine Trials” that added 22 new challenges for players to overcome. Additionally, The Rogue Prince of Persia received its first major title update called “The Temple of Fire,” which introduced a new biome, enemies, and a skill tree.

While fans may have to wait a bit longer for the Sands of Time Remake, they can rest assured that Ubisoft is working hard to deliver a game that captures the essence of the original and continues the legacy of the Prince of Persia series.
