Welcome to the latest edition of our article featuring upcoming RPG games for this week. We will take a closer look at the most noteworthy titles in the RPG genre (or similar). And oh boy, these are definitely titles worth paying attention to. I expect all three of them to strive for the Game of the Year title and perhaps even achieve it. Without further ado, let’s begin our preview!
Eastward: Octopia – January 31st (Switch, Windows)
Unlike the nearly destroyed society in Eastward, in the Eastward: Octopia DLC, above ground, we can expect peace, warmth, and lush vegetation. In a parallel universe, protagonists Sam and John start a new life on a farm, assisting their neighbors with daily tasks. Octopia offers several activities typical of a farming simulation: crop cultivation, animal care, recipe collection and cooking, fishing, and house construction.
The developers say that Octopia is a completely different game mode, so players who haven’t played Eastward (including myself) are welcome. However, you will need the base game to access it ($5.99 USD on PC through Steam and Nintendo eShop).
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – February 1st (PS5, PS4, Windows)
No, we can’t believe it ourselves either.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink first appeared as one of the most anticipated games in 2020 according to RPGFan and has maintained its position in the annual rankings for the past four years. Needless to say, the release of this game is the culmination of years of anticipation for many people in our editorial team (especially for Des Miller).
If you are uninformed (or have managed to avoid the painful game development cycle), Granblue Fantasy: Relink is an action RPG set in the “Sky Realm.” The game is highly praised for its diverse cast of characters (the latest demo featured 11 unique skill sets), full customization of real-time combat, and multiplayer co-op.
We can’t wait to play this game.

Persona 3 Reload – February 2nd (PS5, XSX, PS4, XB1, Windows)
Time never waits. Each one leads to the same end.
I and many others, I’m sure, will inevitably play Persona 3 Reload, the long-awaited remastered version of Persona 3. It is simply vanilla Persona 3; Reload will not include contents added in Persona 3 Portable or Persona 3: FES. Are there any answers? Forget it. The FeMC route? DLC, if we’re lucky. God knows how much Atlus loves its DLC.
(However, as the producer claims, there are some narrative changes included in the game from FES.)
Ignoring the peculiar choices regarding the game’s development, I am still really excited about Persona 3 Reload. I love the new music (Lotus Juice da gawd) and can’t wait to see the improvements in the combat and daily life system. Atlus always finds new ways to refine the formula.
