New Title: Sony Pulse Explore Earbuds – Comfort and Functionality for Gaming

Słuchawki douszne Pulse Explore od Sony – funkcjonalność i wygoda

When it comes to long gaming sessions, I’m not a fan of over-ear headphones. My ears tend to get too warm, and I don’t like completely covering them. After several unsuccessful attempts with Sony gaming headsets for PS4 and PS5, I came to the conclusion that gaming headphones are not for me. Instead, I prefer using Discord on my phone when playing online with friends.

That’s why I became interested in the wireless Sony Pulse Explore earbuds – much more than the Sony PlayStation Portal set and the Pulse Elite headphones. After using them for about a month, I can say that I have enjoyed using them. Although they have their advantages, they didn’t impress me enough to justify their high price tag of 1250 Polish złoty.

Comfort and Design

First and foremost, I must admit that I’m not an “audiophile.” Cheap earbuds from Amazon priced at 100-150 Polish złoty are sufficient for me. Even in situations where “exceptional” sound quality is expected, such as in expensive cinemas, I rarely notice a significant difference. So, I approach this review as an ordinary enthusiast.

In terms of design, I especially like the look and comfort of the Pulse Explore earbuds. They fit snugly in my ears and don’t fall out even during intense movement, like exercising or vacuuming. This is a priority for earbuds, and the Pulse Explore earbuds meet this requirement. I rate them very highly in this regard, although it may vary for other users.

I also appreciate the appearance of the earbuds. Both the earbuds themselves and their charging case are in a white color scheme that perfectly matches the PS5 console. Initially, I wasn’t convinced about having such a white console, but now I’m growing to appreciate it more and I’m glad that the earbuds complement this style. Additionally, the included USB-A adapter for connecting them to the PS5 or computer is black, which matches the darker elements of the front of the console.

Functionality and Sound Quality

Now let’s get to the most important aspect – the functionality of the earbuds. In this regard, they are not outstanding. The biggest advantage that Sony advertises for the Pulse Explore earbuds is their “lossless sound,” but personally, it didn’t leave a major impression on me. The sound quality is good, but I didn’t perceive it as significantly better than cheap earbuds priced at 150-250 Polish złoty. Even headset sets priced at 60-100 Polish złoty sound similar.

The Pulse Explore earbuds also have built-in microphones for online gaming. Although I usually prefer single-player games, I occasionally meet up with friends for virtual game nights, so I made sure to try out these earbuds during such an occasion. The quality of the received sound is decent, but not revolutionary. I also asked my friends how they could hear my commands, and they didn’t notice any significant difference compared to my usual Discord setup on my iPhone.

Conclusion

While these earbuds are not exceptional for me, I enjoyed using them mainly due to their comfort and functionality. They are also useful for late-night gaming when I don’t want to disturb other household members. I also appreciate that I can take them with me thanks to the Bluetooth support, even though volume control only works on a smartphone. The ability to seamlessly transition from gaming with the earbuds to using them outside of the house is convenient, such as when going to the cinema.

The Pulse Explore earbuds are also essential for wireless audio playback on the PlayStation Portal, which does not have built-in Bluetooth. However, their price of 1250 Polish złoty is quite high. Personally, I haven’t used this console yet, so I handed it over to my colleagues for review.

In summary, Sony Pulse Explore earbuds are comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, and offer solid sound quality. However, their price is relatively high compared to other options available on the market. If you prioritize aesthetics and functionality over price, these earbuds may be for you. However, if you’re looking for more affordable alternatives, you’ll find many other equally reliable options.
