Nintendo Expands Offerings and Develops Streaming Service for Multimedias

Nintendo rozszerza oferty i pracuje nad usługą streamingową dla multimediów

In a move to diversify its offerings and cater to a wider audience, Nintendo, the Japanese video game company, is reportedly working on a streaming service for multimedia content. Previous reports suggest that the company has been actively developing this project.

Earlier this month, Nash Weedle tweeted that Nintendo had filed a patent application for selecting and ordering streaming content. The patent describes systems used to determine available content and tracks what has been viewed.

While the patent itself may not seem significant, an intriguing development was noticed by Necro Felipe on Twitter. Nintendo of America posted a job vacancy seeking a software engineer with experience in multimedia technologies, suggesting the company may indeed be actively working on a streaming service. The engineer would be responsible for designing and developing software to support multimedia usage and implementing it effectively on widely used gaming consoles.

With the upcoming release of the Nintendo Switch 2, the Japanese company may be poised to offer not only games but also a streaming service on its new system. The mention of a “widely used” gaming console in the job listing also indicates that this streaming service may be available on the current Switch as well.

Little is known about the Nintendo Switch 2 at present. According to reports, the console will be unveiled in the coming months and officially released later this year. The new system will also support NVIDIA DLSS and provide better ray tracing effects than the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, thanks to NVIDIA’s Ray Reconstruction technology.
