Overwatch Champions Series 2024: Nowa era esportu dla graczy

The Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) 2024 is an exciting and refreshed format that Blizzard Entertainment has chosen as the future of the Overwatch esports ecosystem. The publisher has decided to abandon the entire League system and officially announced a new perspective that aims to provide equal opportunities for the entire community. Players can form teams and compete at a regional level to showcase their skills and enter the international stage.

When Does Overwatch Champions Series 2024 Begin?

OWCS 2024 will kick off in February 2024 with Stage 1 eliminations in Asia. In March 2024, Stage 1 eliminations and the main event will take place for NA and EMEA, along with the continued Asian Round Robin stage (starting from the Stage 1 eliminations in Asia in February).

April 2024 will hold all Stage 2 eliminations and the main event for NA and EMEA, alongside Playoffs and the main event of Stage 1 in Asia. Once the top teams are qualified from each region, they will enter the international stage and compete for the title in the mid-season in May 2024.

Stage 3 eliminations, the main event of Stage 3, Stage 4 eliminations, and the main event of Stage 4 will take place throughout August 2024 and conclude in October 2024.

Meanwhile, the Asian counterpart will host its Stage 2 eliminations, Round Robin, Playoffs, and main event until October 2024. All Asian Playoffs will also have several spots reserved for wildcards throughout the season. The season finale will take place in November 2024, where all qualified teams will compete for the championship title.

A mid-season Major will be held at DreamHack Dallas from May 31 to June 2, 2024. The OWCS 2024 Finals will take place at DreamHack Stockholm, but the exact dates have not been confirmed yet.

What Is the Format of Overwatch Champions Series 2024?

The official blog has provided us with some information about how each region will determine its top teams through rigorous competitive matches.

NA & EMEA:
The series will start with eliminations in the first week and will consist of nine rounds. The following two weeks will have a group stage, including the top 16 teams determined from the initial rounds.

The two best teams from each group will qualify for the main event in the fourth week. The event will be conducted in a Double Elimination format. The whole process will be handled by Blizzard’s new partner, FACEIT.

Asia:
The Asian league is divided into four tiers, with Tier 4 being the lowest and Tier 1 being the highest. Tier 4 includes online eliminations for Korea, Japan, and Pacific regions. Tier 3 consists of regional championships, where nine teams from Korea and Japan will compete in a Round Robin format. Eight teams from the Pacific region will compete in a Double Elimination format at the same tier. Tier 3 will also include three wildcards participating in a similar Round Robin format.

The top three teams from Korea, the top two teams from Japan, the top two teams from the Pacific region, and one wildcard will qualify for the Tier 2 OWCS Asia LAN event at WDG Esports Studio. The top two teams from this stage will qualify for the international tier, Tier 1, and form the final roster of teams alongside other regions.

Blizzard has partnered with FACEIT for the NA and EMEA Overwatch regional scene, while WDG Esports Studio manages the entire scene in Asia. The publisher has also confirmed that Overwatch Champions Series will host two international events with DreamHack in a single season – one Major and one Finals.
