Pokémon Mod for Palworld Draws Attention from Nintendo

Pokémon Mod dla Palworld zwraca uwagę Nintendu

A YouTuber known as Toasted Shoes recently caught the attention of Nintendo when they shared a short clip on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing character models in Palworld replaced with various Pokémon creatures from Nintendo’s franchise. The mod also changed the player character model to Ash Ketchum and other characters to Misty and Brock, Ash’s friends from the Pokémon anime.

However, due to copyright infringement reported by Nintendo, the video is no longer available to watch on X. Toasted Shoes posted a screenshot of their video on social media, which is now restricted due to the copyright claim.

“Nintendo is coming after me, please send prayers and support,” the YouTuber wrote.

Despite the potential risk of facing further consequences for the full version of the video on YouTube, Toasted Shoes still released a version showcasing the mod, albeit without including a link to the modification in the video description, as they want to “tread cautiously.”

“I’ve been receiving a lot of messages from people asking where they can get the mod, etc. We want to make it available for everyone for free, but given the current situation with the copyright claim, we have to proceed with caution,” they stated on X.

Palworld recently stirred controversy when The Pokémon Company’s main lawyer labeled the game as a “senseless plagiarism.” Within four days, the game sold over five million copies and [as of January 21st] had more concurrent players than several popular games on Steam, such as Baldur’s Gate 3.

In other gaming news, details about the post-game content of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League have been revealed, including the ability to play as the Joker from an alternate universe.
