Pokemon Urshifu: A Game-Changing Presence in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Glick claims that Protect is “practically useless” in regular Pokemon gameplay. This move allows players to shield their team from incoming damage during their turn, offering a defensive advantage if used properly. According to Glick, Protect serves as the “foundation of competitive Pokemon” by enabling strategic positioning and protection.

However, the introduction of Urshifu into Pokemon Sword and Shield, along with its ability Unseen Fist, has presented challenges for competitive players. Unseen Fist allows Urshifu to bypass opponents’ protective moves when executing physical attacks. As a Fighting/Dark or Fighting/Water-type Pokemon, Urshifu is one of the most powerful creatures in the game, possessing two different forms and exceptionally strong signature moves that always deal critical hits.

According to Glick, Urshifu “completely undermines” the competitive Pokemon game due to its ability to ignore Protect, lack of weaknesses, and immense power. The video highlights how Urshifu has emerged victorious in five out of six recent significant tournament events, only securing a second-place finish in the remaining one. Glick believes that the game would be “significantly better” without the presence of this legendary Pokemon, which disrupts the game’s rules and creates an unpleasant gameplay experience.
