The Highly Anticipated Stardew Valley 1.6 Update is Almost Here!

Ostateczna aktualizacja Stardew Valley 1.6 jest już gotowa!

After months of anticipation, the Stardew Valley 1.6 update is finally nearing its release! Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the creator of the game, announced on Twitter that the update is now content-complete and he is currently focused on polishing and fixing any remaining issues. The excitement among fans is palpable as they eagerly await the release of this highly anticipated update.

The 1.6 update has turned out to be even bigger than originally planned. After releasing the massive 1.5 update for PC at the end of 2020, Barone seemed to shift his focus to his next game, Haunted Chocolatier. However, in November 2022, he surprised fans by announcing that the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley was on its way. He did mention that it wouldn’t be as large in scale and would primarily focus on better mod support.

But as it turns out, the update has far exceeded expectations. Throughout September 2023, Barone started teasing new additions, including three in-game festivals, over 100 new dialogue lines, support for up to eight players, new items and crafting recipes, winter outfits for the villagers, and much more. And just when fans thought it couldn’t get any better, he even revealed that hats for cats and dogs would be included as well.

“Eric Barone knows no bounds,” commented Jody Macgregor, a weekend editor, and it’s hard to argue with that statement.

Now that Barone has paused his development updates (at least publicly, though I wouldn’t be surprised if he tweets “just a few more things” in April), Stardew Valley players can finally look forward to the update’s release. In response to a comment, Barone confirmed that the 1.6 update will definitely be available in 2024. Considering it’s only January, this seems like an achievable goal. He also mentioned that the PC version of the update will likely be released first, but added, “I really, really don’t want a big delay between PC and console/mobile versions. It was a nightmare in the past.”
