The New Player’s Template: Re-release of the Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Nowy Wzór Gracza: Ponowne Wydanie Braci: Opowieść o Dwóch Synach

A decade ago, a seemingly unassuming game was released on Xbox Live Arcade called Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. From an early look, it appeared to be a pleasant puzzle game where two brothers embark on an adventure. However, playing the game revealed an impressive and unique perspective from its creator, Josef Fares. The emotional and gripping journey depicted in the game resonated with players and showcased some of the best examples of narrative-driven gameplay, all without the use of dialogue.

Replacing the direct quote – The game was both moving and poignant, and to this day, it contains the finest examples of story-based gameplay. You can read the review of the original game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons on the Game Informer website by clicking on this link.

After the release of Brothers, Fares went on to found the studio Hazelight, which released games such as A Way Out and It Takes Two. Now, after 10 years, the game’s creator, Avantgarden Games, is preparing to release a remake of the game on February 28th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Join Marcus Stewart and me as we delve into the new version of the game and reminisce about the original.
